This free bet tracking spreadsheet records every bet in units, works out profit and ROI automatically, and measures your closing-line value (CLV). It opens in Excel, Google Sheets and Numbers, needs no sign-up, and takes about a minute to start.

How to track sports bets in the spreadsheet
- Pick a unit. One unit is your normal stake. Enter stakes in units, not dollars (see bankroll management).
- Log the bet when you place it. Enter the American odds you actually got, e.g. −110 or 150, and set Result to Open.
- Add the closing odds for the same side when the game starts.
- Settle it. Change Result to W, L or P. Profit fills in by itself.
- Check the Summary tab weekly. Read it over dozens of bets, not a few.
How profit, ROI and CLV are calculated
- Profit: a win at negative odds pays stake × 100 ÷ |odds|; a win at positive odds pays stake × odds ÷ 100; a loss costs the stake; a push is 0.
- ROI: units won ÷ units staked on settled bets.
- CLV %: closing implied probability ÷ your implied probability − 1. Positive means you beat the closing line.
This simple CLV includes the vig on your side of the market. The stricter version compares no-vig fair prices on both sides (see no-vig fair price); over many bets the two usually point the same way.
Why tracking every bet helps
Tracking shows what you actually pay in price and what your results really are, instead of what you remember. It also makes it obvious if stakes are creeping up after losses — a sign to step back. Set a limit before you start and keep to it.
